MIDAS Training Summary

The first midas training session consisted of the following topics:

  • Introduction to Midas
  • Components used in data acquisition systems
  • Vendors of Midas Components
  • Types of sensors used
  • How sensors work
  • Overview of a Datalogger
  • The job of a Datalogger
  • Basics of Programming
  • Programming a Datalogger with Short-Cut

The aim of the first training session is to get users of midas acquainted with the basic concepts of electrical engineering that are necessary to understand how a data acquisition system works.

Key concepts of the training were: Ohms law, which modeled how some sensors work, wiring sensor, an introduction to dataloggers, and an introduction to programming and the CR-basic programming language.
